CHILD DENTISTRY (PEDODONTICS)
In order for your children to grow healthily, it is necessary to keep their little teeth healthy as well. Therefore, the main goal of pediatric dentistry has a preventive effect, that is to teach children about an adequate oral hygiene, healthy eating and regular visits to the dentist. Very often, children already in their earliest age have a tooth caries in their deciduous teeth, because of their non resistant enamel, night meals and inadequate hygiene. The recovery of deciduous teeth is very important, because they keep the place for their permanent successors, directing their teething, and allow normal chewing and an adequate bone development. One should not wait for the first visit to the dentist until the child begins to feel pain in the teeth, but it needs to be brought to the practice while the teeth are still healthy or have caries that has not yet progressed (about 2.5 to 3 years). In that way the the confidence of the child and the doctor is developed through a game the emergence of fear that the child might carry into adulthood is avoided. After the teething of permanent teeth it is good to do a so called fissure sealing, a painless procedure for closing the holes in permanent molars. Materials that are being used release fluoride, prevent the food retention and caries.
